Workshop 2020 in acting, lyrical singing and Italian language
During four weeks of training, 10 – 15 selected students will explore the theme of passion, perfecting the characters and themes of the Italian Opera repertoire. During four weeks of intensive workshops, students will work on some of the most iconic roles of Italian Opera and will bring those character to life on the final show.
The workshop is dedicated to:
- students of lyrical singing and professional lyrical singers
- students of acting and professional actors
The school and the workshops will be hosted by the Italian Institute of Culture, located in Downtown Montreal (1200, avenue Dr. Penfield – Montréal, Québec, H3A 1A9). The training will take place from May 25 to June 19, from 9:30 to 16:30, and the final staging will take place Friday, June 19.
Admissions
There are two types of admission:
Voice and Performance Program
May 25 to June 19, 2020
The Voice and Performance Program is dedicated to students of voice and acting.
It is worth 152 hours of intensive training in Italian language, culture and diction combined with workshops in voice, movement, improvisation, and interpretation.
Voice and Performance students will be granted a prominent role in the final show.
Given its than 152 hours of formation under the direction of some of the most influential experts in theatre, Opera and Italian language, the Voice and Performance program initial price is 3,000 CAD.
However, thanks to the contribution of the Italian Institute of Culture – Montreal, all selected participants will be awarded a 2,000 CAD scholarship. Therefore the Voice and Performance program final price is 1,000 CAD.
Other scholarships might be available.
Performance Program
May 25 to June 29, 2020
The Performance Program is dedicated to acting students.
It is worth 20 hours of intensive training in movement, improvisation, interpretation, character analysis.
The Performance program initial price is 1000 CAD.
However, thanks to the contribution of the Italian Institute of Culture – Montreal, all selected participants will be awarded a 500 CAD scholarship. Therefore the Performance program final price is 500 CAD.
Other scholarships might be available.
Candidate profile
Our ideal candidate:
- Has completed secondary studies
- Has a functional knowledge of French or English
- Has a beginners or intermediate proficiency in Italian, or plans to learn Italian in the upcoming semesters
- Has undertaken advanced training in performance arts such as acting, voice, and dance
- Shows artistic inclination and creativity, and a passion for Italian language and culture
- Is curious and autonomous, open to the world and to other languages and artistic forms
Admission Procedure
In order to be admitted, each candidate must send their application form, a casting picture and a detailed CV to the following email: scuolagiovannigrasso@gmail.com.
Once accepted, applicants must contact the Italian Cultural Institute in Montreal (cours.iicmontreal@esteri.it) for tuition and fees.
Deadline for the Applications is February 15, 2020.
