Why\u00a0\u201cGiovanni Grasso\u201d?<\/p>\n

The school is named after Giovanni Grasso, an Italian internationally known actor of the 20th century. His acting style influenced some of the most important theatrical researchers, like Lee Strasberg, who created the famous Actor\u2019s Studio “method”, and Vsevolod Emilevich Meyerhold, who developed Biomechanics.<\/p>\n

The school aims to analyze those acting techniques that have made this Italian style an important inspiration for modern and contemporary drama.<\/p>\n

Why a School of Italian Theatre\u00a0in Montreal?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The School in Italian language and performance has been founded thanks to the collaboration between the Italian Institute of Culture, McGill University and The Theater Company Teatro del Dis\u00eco, that held a series of acting workshops dedicated to the study of masks and Commedia dell\u2019Arte<\/i><\/span> in 2016 in Montreal.<\/p>\n

The aim of the School is foster artistic and linguistic learning while studying theatrical techniques, Italian texts and Italian authors in a culturally and linguistically vibrant city such as Montreal.<\/p>\n
